Osama & Obama

“I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one,

 not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness

 to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness:

only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” Martin Luther King, Jr

When I logged onto my facebook page yesterday morning , It was to the shocking news update on the statuses on my US friends. Osama Bin Laden the alleged mass murderer that masterminded the concerted  attacks on September 11 2001 on the WTC and the Pentagon, had himself been killed.

According to the News reports,internet sites and even my co-workers in the staff canteen,their seemed to be a sense of jubilation at the news.

Whether you believe the US government and the media or you believe the supposed truthers/conspiracy theorist like the following videos

The fact  still remains that another human being has died. The state of his soul only God Almighty knows! However rather than rejoicing spare the thought ,It could have been YOU or one of your loved ones. I am reminded of King David’s reaction when it was reported that King Saul had died see the full story  2 Samuel 1:11-27

We should be smiting our chest, searching our hearts: Are  we right with GOD, Are we ready to meet our maker, have I done all I can for my children and my neighbour that they should share in the The Kingdom of Heaven?

Finally I leave you with this text from the New Testament book of Romans.

For the wages of sin is death;
but the gift of God is eternal life through
Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:23

UPDATE: Monday 16th May 2011 ps I just found this video on youtube today which is very interesting
